Be transported into the heart of urban forests and woodlands in England through sounds recorded by the communities who live in and around them.
Your Forest brings together a network of Community Radio Stations, all located across England’s Community Forest areas.
Trees and forests in and around our towns and cities are so important, for exercise, play, access to nature, health and well-being.
What does your local woodland, forest or tree-lined park sound like? What do you love about it? Go to your favourite spot – or discover a new one – and use your phone to record a minute of the sounds you hear.
Send it to the Your Forest team along with a photo (click on 'Submissions' at the top) and we’ll add your sound to the map.
Research shows that even just listening to the sounds of nature can have a positive effect on well-being and mood. Explore the sounds of nature from the comfort of home by clicking on a pin on the map.

Your Forest Radio Series
[ Read: Acknowledgements ]
Your Forest has been developed in association with Sounds of the Forest, a mass-participation audio project from Wild Rumpus and Timber Festival.
Launched during lockdown the sound map invites people across the world to visit their local woodland or forest and record the sounds of nature. Hundreds of recordings from more than 70 countries and across 6 continents have been submitted and thousands of people have visited to map and been transported to forests across the globe.
Your Forest brings together a network of Community Radio stations across England who will broadcast a special series looking at themes relating to urban forests. Discover the health boosting benefits of spending time in amongst the trees, learn about the wildlife you can spot and get an insight into the future of our city centre buildings - with their very own sprouting forests!
Your Forest is funded by Audio Content Fund and supported by England’s Community Forests, the largest environmental regeneration initiative in England.

Step 2 — Take a picture of the forest scene in front of you. Trees, not people in the picture please.
Step 3 — Fill in the form below, tell us the location, upload your picture and attach your audio file (where it says ‘Attachments’ near the bottom of the form), this can be an MP3, WAV or M4A file-type, we’ll review the audio clip and upload it to our growing soundmap.
