Reflections on Nature: Rest, Recharge, Connect, at Leighton Hospital

Connection with nature in unexpected places.

Staff at Leighton Hospital are invited into an oasis of calm in the heart of a busy hospital. The wellbeing garden was conceived of to provide staff with a place solely for their use, where they can breathe some fresh air, and connect with the rejuvenating powers of nature.

In response to staff requesting a creative intervention which further connects them with nature, and facilitates a moment of pause, our telephone tables have been installed among the plants and trees of this small, yet perfectly formed space.

Hospital staff are invited to sit and dial into nature, to listen to Letters to the Earth read by familiar voices, or to a selection of beautiful birdsong recordings.

This project is a collaboration across, Library and Sustainability programmes funded by NHS England’s Green Libraries programme, Wild Rumpus and Mid Cheshire Hospitals Charity.
