National Memorial Arboretum Summer 2023
This summer we had the pleasure of creating The New World; a series of six playscapes which took families visiting the National Memorial Arboretum on a technicolour journey of play. The playscapes were spread across the beautiful gardens at the Arboretum, allowing visitors to explore at their own pace.
Visitors explored wondrous lands of imagination and play, beginning with a spin of the giant colourful wheel to determine where their journey was to begin!
The Oracle
Find maps, directions, clues and ideas on how to navigate the curious places that have popped up this summer. Sit and relax as you plan where to visit first, and come back at the end of the day to share your hints and tips for tomorrow’s travellers!
Memory Maze
Explore the Memory Maze as we capture your most playful memories, and weave them into this interactive installation. Visit the central memory pavilion for some ideas, then write down your own joyful moments to form part of our celebratory remembrance. When did you laugh the hardest? What’s the silliest thing your family has ever done?
Dream Garden
Strange and wonderful things grow in the Dream Garden. Visit and marvel at the weird and wonderful plants that grow here, then plant your own seeds to take home with you. Poke about in the planters for hints and tips on how to grow your own dream garden at home, and how to grow food and herbs to live more sustainably, even in the tiniest yard.
Sanctuary
Inspired by a giant lotus flower, the sanctuary is a quiet space to sit and be. All adventurers need to rest and restore! A beautiful sanctuary space to spend some time to reflect and contemplate, before you dive back in.
Utopia
Help us to build our brave new world. What is the future that you dream of? We’re building a bamboo land, and need your help. Add to the playful structures we’re creating, and suggest slogans for the ‘signs of the times’ placards that frame the space – what wonderful future can our collective imagination conjure up?
Playscape
A playground, but not as you know it! Come and visit the playscape to make your own playground, full of adventure and joy. Inspired by the loose parts play movement, you’ll be able to build and imagine
If you would like to talk to us about bringing your project to life, we would love to hear from you!
Working across the arts, culture and commercial sector, we partner with organisations, helping them to tell their story in bold and imaginative ways. We create immersive experiences that invite audiences to participate and explore their connection with the natural world.
