Let Hope Blossom

A UK-Wide Call for Moments of Hope This Spring

Wild Rumpus and National Trust invite the public to share voice notes as part of a growing national chorus.

This April and May, Wild Rumpus and National Trust invite people across the UK to take part in a collective act of noticing.

Let Hope Blossom is a nationwide call-out for voice notes, small, personal recordings that capture fleeting moments of optimism, care, and change as they unfold in everyday life.

At its heart is a simple question:

🌸 Where can you see hope blossoming? 🌸

A patch of sunlight.
A shared glance.
Something growing through concrete.

By gathering these fragments from voices across the country, the project will build a living, evolving chorus , a portrait of hope shaped by lived experience.

A UK-Wide Invitation to Be Heard

Anyone, anywhere in the UK can take part by sending a voice note via WhatsApp to 0800 222 9322

Each submission becomes part of a growing archive, a collective audio map of the nation’s resilience, generosity, and imagination.

Some recordings will be shared through public installations and digital channels, while others will live within the expanding collection, a chorus that continues to grow over time.

The project forms part of the National Trust’s Big Blooming Break, an annual shared celebration of blossom and the joy it brings.

Each spring, blossom arrives as a quiet but powerful marker of change — a reminder, carried through the grey of winter, that lighter days are coming. From city streets to countryside hedgerows, it signals renewal, continuity, and hope.

As blossom returns across towns and cities, Let Hope Blossom invites people to reflect not only on what they can see, but what they can feel, and to share those moments with others.

Annie Reilly, Audience and Engagement Director at the National Trust, said:

“The sight of blossom in spring can be a real beacon of joy and hope. It reminds us that the rhythms of the natural world continue all around us – in our parks and streets, gardens and countryside, and even on balconies and window boxes.

With blossom now bursting into bloom across towns and cities, we’re teaming up with Wild Rumpus to invite people to reflect on where they see hope blossoming – whether that’s a favourite tree flowering again after winter, a timely offer of ‘fancy a brew?’, or a kind smile from a stranger – and to share those moments with us as part of a growing national chorus of hope.”

Alongside the national call-out, three free public moments will take place in:

  • Manchester
  • London
  • Sunderland

Temporary city-centre installations will bring together selected voice notes, creating spaces where people can pause and listen to contributions from across the UK.

Blossom Choirs, roving performers and facilitators, will also gather recordings in person, inviting spontaneous reflections from the public and adding to the growing chorus.
