In October this year, Raby Castle came alive with The Glittering North – where audiences were invited into an immersive experience in the spellbinding grounds of the Castle.
Raby Castle is a breathtaking location steeped in Norse folklore which provided inspiration for this wondrous event. As audiences stepped into The Glittering North, they were immersed in music, performance, storytelling, and spellbinding installations which brought stories of myths and gods, men and beasts to life!
Regular visitors to the castle experienced it like never before, seeing the walled garden illuminated and alive with puppetry and performance, provided a truly unique experience.
Curated to combine interaction and performance, alongside moments of quiet wonder, families were led on a journey around a familiar space – re imagined with sculpture and installation, lights and music.
Audiences old and young danced around the long table in The Dutch Barn, with raucous live music and fire juggling spectacle bringing this great stone structure to life!

As winter approaches and the nights draw in, The Glittering North launched the most magical of seasons appealing to a wide audience who wanted to press pause for a while and step into another world of folklore, fantasy and enchantment.
Focusing on art and culture and its connection with nature, The Glittering North was a one-of-a-kind event designed by Wild Rumpus specifically to compliment the incredible new spaces and fascinating history we have here at Raby Castle, with stunning illuminations to enchant and delight.”
