After a wonderful time at Culture Milton Keynes’ Midsummer Festival in 2024, where The Pavillion of The Hopeful Sun premiered, we are delighted to have been invited back for a second year with Ceremony of The Seed!
Ceremony of The Seed!
This creative intervention aims to nurture audiences to feel re-enchanted with nature, facilitating a moment that contributes toward a more sustainable future, using seeds and planting as their inspiration.
Audiences will be invited into a playful, ceremonial space nestled within our wooden pavilion, where the journey begins at our specially designed seed bank. At this intriguing station, characterful, costumed, and performative facilitators will invite visitors to partake in a touching exchange: a memory for a seed!
Together, we will gather cherished memories of nature from one another; recollections of a beloved plant on a grandparent’s windowsill or a vibrant, wild nature corner teeming with life at school! These precious memories will be inscribed onto scraps of fabric and then intricately woven into a collaborative sculptural seed.
Each memory shared will be reciprocated with a seed, a tangible piece of the natural world to cultivate.
As audience members move on to create a paper pot in which to plant their seed, with instructions delivered by performers by a performance piece about nature connection, transforming a practical task into a poetic experience!
